Texas on Fire

As you may have seen on the news, North Texas has been having problems with Wild Fires. Although not on the scale of California's fires, we have lost about 100 buildings, 75 of which were homes. Also 5 people have died, usually elderly who were either trapped in their house or had heart attacks trying to flee. The drought we're in is the worst in 50 years, the temp today is about 74 degrees F and the winds have been whipping through. Good riddance to 2005, the annus horribilus of weather!

We live in a pretty wild country, don't we CH?

If it's not the wildfires and droughts, it's the unending rain-flood-mudslides, or the tornadoes, or the hurricanes or the subzero weather and blizzard conditions, or the god-awful heatwaves.

It's why we are such a hardy folk!

Yep, that's right Mon. My ancestors didn't get to Texas in covered-wagons by being made of sugar candy!

And to live in Philly you have to get used to the cold. Is that why Griz has a fur coat???

Yeah. It's nasty here Winter AND Summer. In the winter it's damp and cold and windy. Usually not a lot of snow - and I love snow!

Summer is the three H's - hot, humid and hazy. Nasty.

Spring and Fall are beautiful though.

My sister's cabin the the Wet Mountains was threatened with wildfires late this last summer. It was spared thank goodness. They struggle to stop those fires but it's best just to get the hell out if one is a homeowner.

BTW and totally off subject - Mad from ATW compared me to 'Predator'!! I don't think that man likes wimmin who don't agree with him! ;-)

Chas,
I hope all are alive and well in your part of the state. Fire is a terrible thing when it gets out of hand.

Monica,
Do you have dreadlocks like the Predator, and do you hang guys upside down to drain the blood?

No.

I don't even like carrying skulls with the spinal column hanging down!
